SUPPER TALK on THURSDAY 25th May, 7.30pm

HUGH THOMSON – A Journey along the Icknield Way  INFO & BOOKING

£20 including 2 course supper

Local author and explorer Hugh Thomson has written books of exploration about Peru, Mexico and the Indian Himalayas, but for this talk he will tell of his journey along the Icknield Way.  “It’s a very ancient route slicing diagonally across England. For a lot of the way, it’s a broad track running along the hilltops, wide enough for cattle and horses, which would have been transported from a very early time. It was a trading route. Trade landed from the Mediterranean on the south coast of Britain, then came inland toward Norfolk, where a lot of other trade was coming in from northern Europe. It also happens to run through where I grew up, in the Chiltern Hills.”

The evening will follow our usual format with the talk first, followed by supper and then over coffee you will be able to ask questions.  We will not have a licence but you are welcome to bring your own drinks.

NB Reservations and payment for both MAY events may be made via the Visit Chilterns website.  Click here to visit their site.  Alternatively you may reserve places as usual with us.
