Gill is by profession a Chartered Town Planner with a Masters in Business Administration from the Open University. For ten years she was Director of Planning and the Environment at Chiltern District Council and prior to that was Head of Planning at Hertsmere Borough Council. She is also a Past President of the Planning Officers’ Society (2003-04). She retired in January 2011.
Gill has lived on the edge of the Chilterns for 30 years and has a strong commitment to conserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the AONB. For over ten years she has been a member of the Chilterns AONB Planning Committee. She is also a member of the Chiltern Society, providing advice on strategic planning matters.
She enjoys walking in the Chilterns and appreciating features such as the chalk streams, red kites and beechwoods that make this such a distinctive landscape. Gill is keen to help others, especially children and young people, have the opportunity to spend the time in the countryside and feel comfortable in natural surroundings.
