Judge's decision on HS2 legal challenges expected on 15 March

Friday 8 March 2013

In December 2012 five comprehensive cases challenging a host of flaws in the Government's plans and processes for HS2 were heard by Lord Justice Ouseley in the High Court. The issues under the microscope included an inadequate public consultation, failure to comply with European environmental legislation and failure to adequately assess alternatives.

Should the Judge uphold any of the challenges then the timetable for HS2 could be set back by several years, though the decision would probably be appealed.
