The Parliamentary Select Committee which is studying the HS2 route and hearing objections from petitioners along it will not be visiting the Chilterns until the late spring at the earliest, after the General Election.
The members of the Committee are making visits to the whole route, and have started in Birmingham. After visiting an area they then hear from selected petitioners from that area before moving on to the next part of the route.
The Committee will spend two days visiting sites along the HS2 route in Buckinghamshire, and it is likely that one of those days will be in the Chilterns. Much work is going on by the Chilterns Conservation Board and others to plan the visits as it is crucial to ensure the Committee members get a complete understanding of the impact the line will have on the AONB. It is clear that further north along the route site visits have influenced modifications to the HS2 proposals.
It is possible that the site visits in Buckinghamshire will not take place until the autumn if the Committee makes slow progress.
