Do you have a passion for conservation and working with farmers to help improve the natural environment at a catchment scale? We are looking for a Farming Officer to help deliver our plans for improving biodiversity and water quality in the Chess catchment.
The Chilterns Conservation Board is working with Thames Water and local stakeholders to pilot Thames Water’s Smarter Water Catchment Initiative in the beautiful Chess valley. This ground-breaking, five-year initiative will deliver a more intensive approach to catchment management with necessary resources available to make a real difference to the health of this special chalk stream and its valley landscape.
The successful post holder will work across the Chess catchment to build strong and trusted relationships with farmers and land managers, encouraging and supporting farmer-led collaborative approaches. You will create and deliver bespoke advice and support packages to help achieve a better functioning river catchment with multiple benefits for nature and people. They will also work with local community river groups to coordinate and support volunteer conservation work.
The post will be based at the Chiltern Conservation Board’s offices in Chinnor, Oxfordshire with the successful candidate being required to travel to multiple sites across the Chess catchment and on occasion across the wider Chilterns. However, the role may comprise a blend of office and home working from time to time. Some work outside of normal office hours will be required.
This is great opportunity to join a committed and friendly team making a positive difference to the farmed landscapes and chalk streams of the Chilterns.
