The latest round of Community Forums is taking place during February and March.
The Dunsmore, Wendover and Halton Forum took place on 12th February. The Central Chilterns Forum, covering Great Missenden and South Heath, is taking place on 26th February. The Chalfonts and Amersham Forum is planned for 4th March.
The Forums are a way for invited representatives of local groups, action groups and relevant bodies like the Conservation Board to engage with HS2 ltd. They have been widely criticised however for not being very effective and failing to give local communities meaningful influence over the plans for the HS2 line.
At the recent Forum in Wendover HS2 Ltd announced that the draft Environmental Statement on the HS2 route from London to Birmingham will be published in the spring. Information will be published for each Community Forum area. The draft Code of Construction Practice will also be published. Unfortunately there are no plans to hold Community Forums at the time of publication of the Environmental Statement. HS2 Ltd are planning to run local community events and 1:1 meetings with relevant organisations to discuss the ES.
Issues raised by attendees at the Wendover Forum included the incomplete information displayed on maps published by HS2 Ltd, not showing the location of maintenance loops on the line for example.
You can download the agenda and minutes from past Forums on the HS2 Ltd website.
