Kath Daly, Acting Chief Officer of the Chilterns Conservation Board, gave evidence to the High Speed Rail Select Committee this morning. She made the case that the impacts of the construction and operation of the HS2 line on the Chilterns AONB have been understated by HS2 Ltd. She asked the Committee to give greater weight to the value of the nationally-protected Chilterns AONB landscape.

Kath Daly was the last of six witnesses put forward by a group of four public bodies who are making the case to the Select Committee for a fully-bored tunnel for HS2 under the whole of the Chilterns AONB. The other witnesses who gave evidence this week included Conservation Board member Ray Payne and former Board member and landscape expert Bettina Kirkham. The four bodies are the Chilterns Conservation Board, Buckinghamshire County Council, Aylesbury Vale District Council and Chiltern District Council.
