Reserve warden needed at Aston Rowant

Natural England are seeking a temporary Reserve Warden for the Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve near Watlington. Closing date for applications: 3rd September. Full details below:

 

Short Term Appointment (Reserve Warden) – Natural England, Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve.

An opportunity has arisen based at Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve, Oxfordshire, OX49 5SG, for a Short Term Appointment as a Reserve Warden working from September 2015 to March 2016 inclusive, start and end date to be agreed prior to the commencement of the contract.  The job will involve practical habitat management on a suite of NNRs across the Chilterns. There is potential for this to turn into a permanent appointment.

Essential requirements:

Full Driving Licence

In date CS30 and 31 or equivalent Chainsaw Licence

In date Brush cutter Licence

Working 37 hours per  week with occasional weekend work  to be agreed (Time Off In Lieu during the week will cover any weekend work)

Ability to work independently and travel to sites in Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire.

Ability to work in tough terrain and all weather conditions.

Desirable requirements:

1st Aid qualification

Trailer (B+E) Licence or equivalent

Previous experience of working on a nature reserve

Previous experience of supervising and working with Volunteers and liaison/contact with the general public

Previous experience of livestock management

In date 4x4 Licence

Previous experience of fencing for livestock fencing, hanging field and pedestrian gates, etc.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Salary – £16,500 pro rata
