Did you know that ChilternsAONB covers 839 square kilometres of countryside? Our remarkable landscapes stretch from the River Thames in southern Oxfordshire up through Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire as far as Hitchin in Hertfordshire. Amongst the most varied countryside within the UK, our landscapes include rare chalk meadows and streams, woodlands, field patterns and farmland. And all these are especially significant because they have ancient roots, still detectable in hillforts, trails and old trading routes.
Of course ChilternsAONB isn't just about beautiful countryside: picturesque villages typify the area and traditional crafts and industries flourish. Our visitors enjoy a host of activities from cycling to wine-tasting...
