Like many of us, Isla was appalled by the effects plastics in our waters on BBC TV series Blue Planet II and was inspired and determined to do something about it.
Isla started her eco-mission by litter picking in her local community, volunteering at local events, and organising family picks. Throughout her last term at school Isla has collected 16 big bags of rubbish by herself and will also be leading an assembly to encourage her classmates and teachers to do the same.
We think Isla is an absolute inspiration and would like to honour her as a ‘Chilterns Champion!’ We hope her story inspires more people no matter what age, to make small changes that will make a huge impact on our beautiful landscape, for now and in the future.
If you, or someone you know, has done or does something special to help conserve or enhance the beautiful landscape, and you think would be a worthy ‘Chilterns Champion’, we’d love to hear from you. Please let us know by emailing vpearce@chilternsaonb.org or tweet @chilternsAONB using the hashtag #chilternschampion.
